Georgia Carolyn Rogers (Grizzle), 75, went home to our Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1942 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Faye Grizzle and the late Victor Grizzle.

All through life, Georgia was a witness of our Savior Jesus Christ, and she wanted everyone to know him. She spent her years in service to her family, friends, church family, and to those who may not have even known her through supporting missionary work. In Georgia's early years, she attended and graduated from Mellie's Beauty College in Fort Smith, Arkansas with the Who's Who's Honor and top of her class. She later was placed in Mellie's Hall of Fame.

After graduating, she opened her own beauty shop in Roland, Oklahoma, and remained a beautician for 35 years. She was married to the love of her life, Philip for 52 years and 3 months. Georgia shared many stories with her family about her love and life with Philip and of the first time she saw him, and how in just 9th grade, she knew God had planned for her to marry him. After owning her successful beauty shop for nearly 30 years, she sold her business to join her husband in opening OK Auto Glass business in 1993.

A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Roland, OK, she served the Lord diligently by living the Gospel daily and playing the piano every Sunday church service. She wrote many Christmas and Easter church cantatas, and was a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. She would hold a ladies Bible study every Wednesday, and loved teaching children at Children's Church. Georgia, a true example of the Light of Christ, was an amazing mother and grandmother. Her faith and testimony has been a blessing to all those who knew her, even more so, her family.

Georgia is survived by her mother, Faye Grizzle of Fort Smith, AR; her brothers, Rick and Sherrie Grizzle of Fort Smith, AR, and Johnnie and Donna Grizzle of Pocola, OK; her sisters, Kathy and Eddie Coleman of Pocola, OK, and Barbara and Tom Humphreville of Bella Vista, AR; her children, Shelton Rogers of the home, Roland, OK, Penny and Daniel Ates of Claremore, OK, Shawn and Tammy Rogers of Van Buren, AR; grandchildren, Heather and Chris Greninger of Broken Arrow, OK, Karina and Creighton Moore of Fayetteville, AR, Chris and Kirsty Davis of Jones, OK, Jamie Rogers of Palm Springs, FL, Megan and Brian Lloyd of Fayetteville, AR, Morgan Pitchford and Casey Gray of Van Buren, AR, Whitney Rogers of Barling, AR, Joshua Dugan of Roland, OK, Devin Rogers and Lexie Rogers of Van Buren, AR, Alyssa Ates of Claremore, OK; great grandchildren, Nathan Greninger and Blake Greninger of Broken Arrow, OK, Charlie Pitchford of Van Buren, OK, Mia Davis of Jones, OK, Cale Moore of Fayetteville, AR; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Lee Rogers; her father, Victor Grizzle; and grandparents, Johnnie and Ada Belle King, and James and Harriet Grizzle.

As this scripture states, "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you. . ." John 13:34, she exemplified this great commandment and loved others unconditionally. We will strive to live as she did with hope, love, and glory to God.

The family is accepting visitors at their Roland home after services for lunch and fellowship. There will be no viewing before the service.

Funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church of Roland, OK with Jody Grizzle officiating the service. The arrival time at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith is at 12:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, AR.

Pallbearers will be Shelton Rogers, Shawn Rogers, Daniel Ates, Chris Greninger, Chris Davis, John Grizzle Jr. (Standing in for Joshua Dugan), and Nathan Greninger.
