Obituary

Louise Katherine (Sullivan) Wiederkehr was born on May 28, 1933 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the youngest of five children born to John Jacob and Lucille (Haley) Sullivan. She graduated from Bishop Lillis High School in 1950 where, among other activities, she was a cheerleader (more on that later) and editor of the yearbook, which explains why she detested hearing her children say "ain't" and "I yusta could, but now I cain't."

Lou raised her family back when kids were shooed from the house to play outside for most of the day. Her kids always knew when Lou wanted them home for dinner. Lou stood on the back steps and rang a ship's bell that could be heard throughout the neighborhood. God rang his dinner bell on October 2, 2016, calling Lou home. Her children and grandchildren were with her in her final days.

Lou's gifts to her family were many: Love as constant as the waves in the ocean, as warm as an electric blanket-on high; Laughter at Erma Bombeck columns read aloud at breakfast, a comic strip that arrived in the mail, a funny story told over the phone, another crazy antic by the Knit Wits; Beauty-inside and out; Grace (except for the times she stepped in those holes!); tea parties complete with hats and gloves; family reunions; and crazy, themed parties.

Lou was predeceased by her husband, John H. Wiederkehr, DDS; her parents, John and Lucille Sullivan; sisters, Mary Jane Woock and Betty Ann Shonfelt; and brothers, William Sullivan and Fr. Terence Sullivan. She is survived by her children: Karen (David) Miller, Michael (Lee Anne Kirby) Wiederkehr, Patricia Wiederkehr Rojek, and Betsy (Martin) Wiederkehr Huss; grandchildren: Megan (Ben) Walker, Benjamin (Michelle) Miller, Sarah (Dave) Rice, Sean and Daniel Wiederkehr, Katie (Ben) Newhouse, Owen and Lucy Rojek, and Katherine and Michaela Huss; five great-grandchildren; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
